When you think of meticulous attention to detail, unique creativity, humor, whimsy, design, and a realization that the art in front of you is different than anything else in the fine art community, you are viewing a piece by Julie Judes.

Julie began her foray into the art world in 1993. At that time she focused on framed pieces of cut paper designs. Some would call it collage, but it really was levels above the simple definition. Each piece was created as a tracing which dictated the shape of the cut paper elements painstakingly cut from premium acid free papers. These pieces were then layered in concert with her design skills into the finished item. And to complete the presentation, each piece was matted and framed to display it to its best advantage. Due to her strong sense of design and composition, Julie created a tremendous collection of layered cut paper designs. They represented items in our world such as kitchen scenes, thoughts in our minds and dreams, and exquisite multifaceted geometric compositions. Some customers commissioned Julie to create something special for their home or for a personal gift.

Julie then began her next phase of creativity in 2004 by realizing that the most mundane items in our lives can become works of art. She chose bowling pins as her canvas to paint abstract and figurative images. How interesting that the simple bowling pin, rescued from its retirement in sports, could become a three-dimensional fine painting! Each pin is carefully cleaned and provided with several base layers of paint as a foundation. Then the design is applied using a variety of brushes and other devices to achieve the level of detail only appreciated by carefully studying the work. Most of the figurines are finished by the addition of jewelry elements that complete the composition. Again, these have been sold at galleries and art fairs to those who appreciate one-of-a- kind fine design.

At this time Julie has expanded her creative world by publishing short stories to a variety of magazines.
